obsessed or head over heels? - 17th summer

Pages read- 25
So the day after Jack and Angie have their first date, she feels kind of paranoid/ anxious because Jack hasn't called all day and she's wondering if he doesn't like her anymore or if he didn't have fun "with a girl like [her]." So she asks her little sister, Kitty, if she wants to take a walk and get ice cream. The y leave home get ice cream, and head over towards the boat docks. They pass by, while Angie secretly checks to see if Jack is any where, he isn't and she feels disappointed. But as they were near the end of the harbor a car pulls up to them and Swede hangs out of the window asking if they want a ride. Instead of answering she questions him to see if Jack told him if he had a good time. He said that he didn't know, and Jack didn't talk of her to him. Disappointed she decided to walk home.
Late that night Jack called to see if she wanted to take a ride with him to Pete's, her mother put up a fuss but her dad and sister really wanted her to go. Pete's is like a little diner place for teenagers to go to, dance, eat, and have a good time. Jack had beer and Angie a coke, and Angie felt out of place because she's never been out on a date with a boy , "especially Jack." She felt even more out of place when Jack's ex-girlfriend showed up and he danced with her the whole night. His friends sat in the booth with her to talk, but she only felt comfortable with Jack next to her. She felt sad and wondered why he would ask her to come if he was having a better time with his ex.
When they went outside after wards, she noticed there were a lot of cars compared to the number of people inside, she didn't really catch on that there were people making out in the cars, and Jack thought she was joking, realized she wasn't and said "You're a good kid, Angie."
On the way home, she thought she was a terrible date, and thought he confirmed it when he said he was going to be out of town for a few days in Green Bay to see his cousin. Yet to her surprise he asked if she would go to the first country Club dance of the summer, next Friday.
